Behind the Stage
A candle burns as a day’s concerns begin to fade away
A quiet time stills the mind, and is welcomed by the soul
A question nears becoming clear, - a moral to be learned
An inward view inside the "you" - the man behind the stage
Scenes begin and things that offend are the first we behold
Although forgiven we retrieve them, like artifacts of old
And motives unseen, are they unclean or are they from above?
Ah, the answer’s there, - how does it compare, - with all that's just and good?
The childhood dreams, - the corporate schemes, - so distant and so close
I count my score, - but as before, - I find I’m somewhat short
How good to know when I feel so low, - The Master’s looking in
And though I've failed, - I will prevail, - for He's called me His friend!
